What To Expect: Preparing For Your Visit

Baby bottle feeding in a car. red cheeks

Thank you for booking a lactation consultation with me!

here are a few quick things to note before me meet

If you have not already paid for our visit, my fees are due 24 hours before our visit. You can pay via e-transfer using info@babyhippie.ca. Once paid, you will be provided with a receipt that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement; unfortunately we cannot guarantee that they will provide reimbursement.

IMPORTANT!! Please DO NOT feel the need to clean your house! I understand that you are a busy person with many priorities and that cleaning may not be at the top of that list.  I promise you, I do not care if your house is messy.

  • Try to make a list of all of your questions for me. Don't worry if you forget something, you will have 14 days of email follow up after our visit.

  • If you have questions about any gear you are using (pump, bottles, etc.) try to have them available and accessible for us to look at together.

  • Be it the bathroom, your bedroom or living room, expect me to be with you in the room where you spend the most time nursing

  • Try not to give your baby a full feed within an hour of our visit. They don't need to be very hungry, but they do need to be willing to eat in order to work on latching and/or bottle feeding.

  • Siblings are more than welcome during consults. Try to plan an activity for them to do nearby so that we can chat freely during our time together.

  • If your goal is related to something that does not require me to see a feed (weaning, pumping, etc.) your baby does not need to be present during our visit.

  • If your baby happens to be asleep when we meet don’t worry, it will give us time to chat before we work on your feeding goals.

  • Please feel free to have your partner or any support person with you during our visit. Be mindful that whoever is present may hear your medical information.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

  • We will meet via Google Meet, a HIPAA compliant platform. A link will be sent to you along with your invoice receipt.

    Helpful tips:

β€” Good lighting: Find a room with good lighting so I can see you and your baby.

β€” A camera person: Sometimes I need to get a good look at what’s happening from different angles. Another person can help move the camera to allow me to see your feed from different perspectives.

β€” Close other programs: In order to have the best connection please close other windows or programs on the device you will be using for our visit.

  • β€” I will wash my hands when I get in your house.

β€” I will always ask your permission before touching you or your baby.

β€” We love animals, especially big dogs. But in order to provide you with our undivided attention, I ask that your pet(s) be behind a closed door for the duration of our visit.
