In a dream world lactation services would be covered under our provincial healthcare plans. But this is not the dream world.

So here are some resources where you can access lactation services for free (or a small fee). Because, no matter what our families’ financials looks like, we all deserve to feel supported in feed for our tiny humans.

health connect Ontario

Get breastfeeding advice and referrals 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can get advice and referrals from nurses in both English and French, with translation support offered in other languages.

La Leche League

Encourages, promotes and provides peer-based breastfeeding, chestfeeding and human milk feeding support and educational opportunities. Some Groups are hosting in-person gatherings, others are hosting virtual meetings or a combination of both.

Ocama Collective

A community-directed group of birth workers of colour, living and working in Tkaronto (Toronto), who are dedicated to the reclamation of traditional and holistic childbearing and birthing practices, amongst IBPOC folx.

Toronto Public Health

Clinics offer individual consultations by health care professionals where families can have their baby weighed and their feeding concerns addressed. Support by telephone, video calls and/or in-person breastfeeding clinic appointments.
